A Passion for Supporting Students

For Beth Gilbertson, Herzing University is more than a workplace—it's a community of support, growth, and lifelong learning. With 10 years of service and a remarkable background as a 28-year Army Reserves veteran, Beth has become an integral part of the Herzing family. Her journey began when a former colleague recruited her, quickly propelling her from an academic role to her current position as Associate Vice President of Experiential Learning.

Beth's career path reflects her deep commitment to education. She previously served as the Academic Dean at the Kenosha campus and now oversees the university's centralized clinical management process. Her approach to education is deeply personal and holistic, understanding that student success goes far beyond classroom learning.

A Story of Military Service and Family

A profound highlight of Beth's time at Herzing was the deeply personal moment of hooding her son Matt at his MBA graduation—a testament to the university's commitment to family and education. Her own military service has been a cornerstone of her connection to Herzing, with the university providing unwavering support during her overseas deployments in 2014-2015 and mobilization to the Pentagon in 2017-2018.

Currently, Beth channels her passion through the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Services, managing a $600,000 grant designed to support military and veteran students. Her 28-year history in the Army Reserves gives her a unique perspective on supporting students who balance military service with educational goals.

Empowering the Next Generation

"It takes a village to raise a student to become a graduate," Beth says, embodying Herzing's personalized, mission-driven approach to education. Her advice to current and future students reflects her compassionate approach: build connections, master time management, and never be afraid to ask for help.

Her commitment extends beyond the classroom. Before transitioning into her new role, she served on the Board of Directors of the Education Foundation of Kenosha and actively participated in community events, including serving as a guest speaker at Gateway's Racine Campus Independence Day Celebration.

As Herzing University celebrates its Diamond Anniversary, Beth Gilbertson represents the heart of the institution—dedicated, supportive, and always focused on student success.
