When opportunity knocked, Denise Greaves answered—even if it meant changing course. As she was wrapping up her final day of law school, a fateful phone call led her to what would become a fulfilling 16-year – and growing – career at Herzing University.
Finding Her True Calling
Today, as Interim Program Chair for Online Business, Greaves has transformed what started as an unexpected opportunity into a passion for education and student success. Her journey from law student to educational leader showcases the power of embracing new paths.
Making a Lasting Impact
Among her most cherished experiences is mentoring a student throughout their academic journey, ultimately helping them transition from student to colleague as an Adjunct Faculty member in the business department. "It was an immense source of pride to see him transition from a dedicated student to a respected colleague," Greaves reflects.
Contributing to Academic Excellence
Greaves' commitment to education extends beyond the classroom. She actively participates in curriculum development, leads innovative course initiatives, and maintains an open-door policy for students. Her involvement in academic quality committees and course development has helped shape the university's educational offerings.
Building Tomorrow's Leaders
For current and future students, Greaves emphasizes the importance of taking advantage of Herzing's supportive community. "Seek out mentors—whether they're faculty, staff, or fellow students—and never hesitate to ask questions or share concerns," she advises. "Herzing is a place where your voice matters—embrace it, stay curious, and trust that we're all here to help you succeed."
